Research Assistant

We are seeking a motivated Research Assistant to join a collaborative, VA-funded rehabilitation research center, the Center for Visual and Neurocognitive Rehabilitation at the Atlanta VA. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to additional studies across the center as research needs evolve. The Research Assistant will primarily support a VA-funded clinical trial for Veterans with co-occurring fibromyalgia and PTSD: NCT07718984. The study is evaluating transauricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS), a noninvasive pain-management approach, alongside Prolonged Exposure in Primary Care. The anticipated study launch is January 2027, with the possibility of an earlier hire and start date in October 2026.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate recruitment, scheduling, participant retention, and daily study logistics.

  • Conduct study assessments across participating sites under the supervision of PI team.

  • Maintain regulatory and study records, including IRB-related documentation.

  • Support accurate collection of self-report, interview, and wearable-device data.

  • Collaborate with clinical and research teams to ensure a respectful, Veteran-centered research experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and IRB/regulatory experience required.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and participant-engagement skills.

Preferred: Experience coordinating mental-health or clinical research studies; CCRC certification; prior VA research experience; and training or experience with mental-health assessments.

Other volunteers are less likely to be able to achieve credentialing for our projects due to strict regulations in place at the institutions we serve.
